In what can only be described as a strange and weird set of circumstances a Dodge Caravan was rear-ended by a Hyundai Accent described as traveling at a very high rate of speed pushing both into the bridge barrier at 1st and Main in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The driver on the vehicle in front had minor injuries, the passenger serious injuries. The car to the rear, and apparently doing all the damage had a driver with minor injuries who then, according to the report, attempted to jump off the bridge. His front seated passenger and one rear seated passenger had serious injuries and another backseat passenger died at the scene. Accident happened at 12:05 A.M.
Here is how the Trooper described it: “VEH 1 WAS WB AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED; REARENDED VEH 2; BOTH VEH HIT THE CEMENT BARRIERS ON THE BRIDGE; DRIVER OF VEH 2 HAD MINOR INJURIES, PASSENGER HAD SERIOUS INJURIES; DRIVER OF VEH 1 HAD MINOR INJURIES AND ATTEMPTED TO JUMP OFF THE BRIDGE AFTER THE COLLISION; FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AND ONE REAR PASSENGER IN VEH 1 HAD SERIOUS INJURIES AND ANOTHER BACK SEAT PASSENGER WAS DECEASED AT THE SCENE; CF PD LEADING THE INVESTIGATION WITH”
Reports have the Hyundai being driven by Charles Brooks and the Dodge by Randy Combs of Waterloo. The injured included Brooks, Leslie Brooks both from Champlin, Minnesota. Others include Cynthia Brooks (listed as a fatality), Kamyah Brooks from Champlin. Daniel Combs was also injured.

KCRG “Charles Brooks, 46, of Champlin, Minn., was the car's driver and received minor injuries. Iowa State Patrol says he tried to jump off the bridge after the crash.
Cynthia Brooks, 38, of Waterloo, was in the back seat of the speeding car and died at the scene.
Leslie Brooks, 43, of Champlin, Minn., was a passenger in Brook's car and was seriously injured.
Kamyah Brooks, 7, of Champlin, Minn., was a passenger in Brook's car and received serious injuries. An air ambulance took her to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Randy Combs, 62, of Waterloo, was the mini-van's driver and had minor injuries.”
