Police began pursuing a vehicle in Des Moines on December 31, 2016 when they tried to pull the car over for a traffic stop and the vehicle took off at a high speed. Officers stated the chase lasted about one minute until the suspect's SUV ran a red light and struck a small car at a high speed. The victim fortunately only suffered minor injuries, but the car sustained significant damage. The driver of the suspect vehicle and two of its passengers were arrrested after being treated for injuries. They have been charged with various crimes, including drug possession, interference with official acts, serious injury by reckless driving, and felon in possession of firearms.
