Happy Independence Day!

My hometown is Bristol, Rhode Island. Bristol is a small town set off of Bristol Harbor southwest of Providence. To the south of Bristol is Newport accessible via the Mt. Hope Bridge. To the immediate north is Warren and Barrington. In Bristol the 4th of July is the annual event every Bristolian gets excited about.

If ever you would like to see a great 4th of July parade head to Bristol, Rhode Island. The good people of Bristol start planning for the 4th on July 5th of every year. This is the oldest continuous Independence Day parade and celebration in the United States. Link

Going from a population of 22,000 to more than 250,000 it’s really an amazing logistical feat.

And in Bristol they say, “Happy 4th!”

[I lived at 254 Hope Street, shown where "ST." is located on the map, Hope Street. My brothers and I would fish off the dock at the bottom of Constitution Street and hung out at the Burton Street sea wall. Happy 4th!]

The greatest day of the year in Bristol. I miss being there a lot. Just a wonderful family event.
