There was an explosion at an asphalt plant in eastern Iowa, Moscow. Mr. Kyle Gottschalk of Lowden had to be flown to an Iowa City hospital. There is no information available that describes how the man was injured and what caused the explosion.

The Monsanto plant explosion was minor and from the video the workers look pretty relaxed. The explosion was from a bottle that over pressurized during a chemical process. The one employee who may have been exposed was taken to the hospital as a safety precaution. See the video.

And in the West Burlington area a tube of fireworks prematurely ignited causing other fireworks to ignite, injuring 4 people.
