Des Moines Officer Struck by Truck at Iowa State Fair

When pedestrian officers are in traffic directing the flow, it's never a restful situation. This one with Tran protecting pedestrians crossing the street turned ugly and then critical. 
Officer Phoukham Tran an 11-year-officer for Des Moines PD was struck by a Ford F-350 at East 39th Street and Grand Avenue, by the main gate of the Iowa State Fair at 11:55 p.m. on August 20, 2011. He is reported to be in critical condition having been flown to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. His injuries are to the head (brain) and internal injuries. The truck driver is reported to be Keith Terry from Belews Creek, North Carolina. Allegedly his BAC was either .266 or .264. This isn't going to go well from those involved. I'd suggest Terry sit in his cell and pray that Tran doesn't die. I'd also suggest he hire Todd Miler to defend him and that he stop talking, although it's probably too late for that.
