Here is your checklist and how to think about your job before you enter a confined space:
1. Check the immediate area for hazards.
2. Test the atmosphere in the confined space for toxic gases.
3. Use the buddy system, a spotter and know how to rescue a trapped worker.
4. Use proper ventilation techniques.
5. Use a harness, lifeline and oxygen meter.
