Black Hawk County Deputy Dies after Workout – Workers Compensation?

The report from KCRG is that a 32-year-old deputy who was working out died of a "heart attack" shortly after a workout. He is Doug Norton from Waterloo, Iowa. If deputies are required to stay in good physical condition and to work out on a regular basis would working out be considered a part of the job requirements that if it causes injury would be compensable under Iowa law. Great question and the widow and 4-year-old daughter he left behind should want to know the answer to this question. My thinking is it should be.
