ATV Safety is again in the news with two separate Iowa ATV Accidents.

Two teenagers from Boone County were riding on an ATV when it dropped off of something; the story isn't clear on what they fell off of. If I were closer I'd take a photo of the location to clear it up. One of the boys was killed and another injured. A crash involving the ATV occurred on or just off of U.S. Highway 30 outside of Ames when the vehicle went off of a 14-foot drop. The driver died when the ATV landed on top of him after he flew off of it.

This won't be a very good post today. I've too much to do in the office. But I'll give you some resources to read, if you find this article useful. ATV owner's need to review their homeowner's insurance policies to see if the title owner of the ATV is an insured and covered under the liability portion of the policy.  I would also suggest a health insurance policy with either unlimited coverage or at least $10 million in limits. Quadriplegic or paraplegic injuries of a young family member can devastate the parents and bankrupt them.

And in another ATV accident in Johnson the report indicates the collision with a pickup truck and the ATV occurred in the street. The collision is noted to be at the intersection of Northwest 70^th Avenue and Peckham Street in Johnston, Iowa. It happened on a Friday around 6:00 p.m. The driver was 27-years-old and the passenger 47. There is an indication in the article that alcohol may have been involved. ATV's are unlicensed vehicles and should not be driven on the public streets. Of course it goes without saying that alcohol and ATV's just don't mix well. See the article below.

The Iowa Attorney General previously maintained ATV safety suggestions on its website site, but a current search did not produce any results.  The Lombardi Law Firm does advocate for ATV safety and we have written articles and posted video on our site. The latest debate involved the Rhino.
