Arrested in Texas for OWI while riding a horse.

Cowboy UP! A man, no two men in Austin, Texas was arrested on a recent Friday night for OWI or should I say operating a horse and a mule while under the influence. Is nothing sacred? What about John Wayne and all those bar room brawls and gun fights in the street. How do you think men got their nerve up to actually have a gun fight? "Okay, offissserrr make me day!"

When asked for comment, the horse and mule took the fifth.

Austin Texas: DWI Arrest for Men on Horse and Mule

Two men were arrested for DWI in Austin, Texas. Obviously these happen every day, but it's not often that the people who get arrested were "driving" a horse and a mule.

Did you have any idea that it was illegal to drink and "drive" a four legged creature? It seems that Jose Rios and Olivio were not aware of this fact. They parked a horse trailer near I-35 in Austin, Texas last Friday night, and they decided to take off down 6th street on their horse and mule.

While they were enjoying their drunken ride down the city street, they also invited others who were out and about to take pictures with them and their animals. Police were not amused by this little stunt. They pulled the two men over, and Rios was so drunk that he couldn't even complete the sobriety test.

According to authorities, "It is legal to ride a horse on a public street ...just not while you're intoxicated." Unfortunately for the two men, they weren't aware, so they ended up being arrested for DWI on a horse and a mule. At least you know now, so you won't even make this mistake.

OWI law is the most complicated and therefore misunderstood area of criminal law by both the public and practicing attorneys, which means that justice is often not served due to wrongful convictions and punishment greater than that required by law.  Attorney Todd Miler has represented persons accused of Operating While Intoxicated in Iowa since 1997.  Miler Law Firm has been located in West Des Moines since 1999.  Through the dissemination of information, Todd Miler is attempting to help the public better understand their legal rights.  You may call Todd Miler directly (515-457-9843) if you have questions about Iowa‘s criminal law.

Do I have to be present during settlement? Do I have to be with my lawyer when a settlement is made for my personal injury claim? I really do not want to face my neighbors right now. My son was bitten by their dog and they claim that it was my son's fault. I want my solicitor to stick to the amount that I want them to pay me. Can my solicitor make the settlement in my behalf?

Can we sue someone who hit us after a DUI? My pregnant wife was driving the car and a drunk driver hit us and ruined the car. Cops came and gave the guy a DUI. No injuries but I am wondering, am I obligated to a claim because now she is scared to drive or be inside a car.

What can I do if I am caught driving without a license again? I was in an accident; I do not have a license. Took a chance to get back and work. I have been caught before and this will make it my third felony driving while suspended. The ticket written was only for not providing a license, what can I do?
