After losing control, what can cause the driver to over-correct?

Pottawattamie County, Iowa – In this single-vehicle accident we have a 19-year-old female from Council Bluffs driving west on I-80. She attempts to pass, losses control, fails to properly execute the correction, then goes into the ditch (on the north side) only to strike the guardrail. Kabang! She was injured but luckily not killed. Off to Myrtue Hospital the Avoca Rescue squad too her. Brittni Walker, what were you thinking about?

In this single-vehicle accident (at least that is the way it is described) figuring out causation is an interesting endeavor because we certainly need a lot more information. We want the driver’s understanding of what happened, we need to know her car’s speed, what she did and when she attempted to do it. And then we are off to the races wanting a look at those tires and especially the make, model and the depth of the tread on each. Weather conditions are equally important as is the driver’s sobriety or lack thereof. We make no judgments in this case because we don’t know enough, although it is important to know which questions to ask before any lawyer takes a case such as this one. Of course we wish Ms. Walker well.

Accident happened on November 17, 2016 at 1541 or 3:41 in the afternoon.
