Mark Bello has reported on North Face suing South Butt, Jane about hotels and I posted about the Seattle mountaineers trapped on the mountain under heavy snows. Since we've talked about adventure travel this week I thought it appropriate to discuss again what happens when the S-H-T-F.

This subject I’ve written about before. It’s one that experience has taught the challenges it can pose. Adventure travel is great fun. Exploring the world, especially in remote locations can be very satisfying. But it can also be life threatening, as you’ll see in this instance.
Adventure Travel in the Moutain Ranges in Iowa, October 13, 2009, Many of you know I’ve been to several mountains around the world including Kilimanjaro in Africa, the Alps in France and Switzerland, Elbrus in Russia,…
A helicopter crashed after striking a tree at the Rudikot helipad in Humla, Nepal. Humla is a mountainous region in Nepal. There were two passengers and four crew members; all injured and one killed; a Russian died. The trip was to haul general goods. This remote area inaccessible by motor vehicles takes two days to by foot. A second helicopter was commissioned to rescue the injured.
Nepal’s northern region is extremely mountainous. To go down you often times must go up. You can travel for weeks and not see a car, truck or other motorized vehicle. It’s a beautiful place to trek, but the conditions can be exacting and unforgiving. Those interested in mountain adventure would find Nepal especially enjoyable. But always remember that where there is adventure there is risk.
I've started covering some adventure travel stories that will be of interest to those who participate in adventure travel. Come back from time to time to ready the ins and the outs of adventure travel. Enjoy your day, have a happy holiday and stay safe while in the mountains.
