All week I've been featuring Lacrimosa, a musical duo - he's German and she's Finnish - based in Switzerland. Today's video is My Last Goodbye, with the interesting imagery. As I said to Katrina, this is my new favorite group. Between the two of us I change more than she does. Neuschwanstein Castle is at 2:59. The girls and I have visited the Castle; really worth the visit if you ask me. Iowans would be surprised as how similar Germany is to Iowa.

Roll-Over Accidents May Allow a Passenger Claim for Personal Injury for Feb.24, 2011
SUV, truck and car rollover accidents in Iowa are common because many vehicles go fast and have a high center of gravity. They call it the CG, center of gravity, and that has everything to do with why the car you’re in starts and then continues to roll multiple times. What can protect you is a seatbelt and shoulder harness along with slower speeds on slick or icy roads. If the road surface starts to accumulate snow or ice and the driver is going faster than you like then say something to him or her about slowing down. After all it is your life. So put down the cell phone and stop texting long enough to realized the danger you’re in when a rollover accident occurs because the driver is too distracted to realize what’s about to occur.Rollover Car Accidents in Iowa
What is going on with the rollover accidents lately? There seems to be a lot of them, even though cars are made with more stability. If you don’t know about the center of gravity, referred to as the “CG” then you ought to read about it. The CG is that point above the ground and below the roof line where it will stay upright so long as it doesn’t go out over the wheel base. Hamilton County just had two in one day.Rollover Car Accidents in Iowa December 2010

In this traffic camera from Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 11, 2010 a car rolls over after being t-boned when the driver failed to stop for a stop light. That will stop the distractions; that’s for sure. Lucky for him no one was injured. You should drive like your life depended on it.
Will the driver talk to police and say what caused the loss of control and the rollover or fearing criminal prosecution will he take his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself? I’m sure the Crawford County Sheriff and the Iowa State Patrol are asking questions. But are they getting any answers? The passenger’s friends and relatives will certain want answer. But will they get them? Drive carefully, as if your life and those riding as passenger’s lives depended on it. Because as this collision showed, it certainly does.Rollover Accidents - Cause and Effect
I have to start looking closer at accidents where one or more cars rollover. The causes I’m sure can be categorized which may help someone avoid one. Here is one example. It happens in Des Moines, Iowa and two people were taken to the hospital. The crash site is 13th Street and University Avenue where one car apparently ran a red light t-boning a non-fault driver and causing that car to overturn. So there is one cause. A side collision involving speed and a direct hit can cause a rollover accident. For more on this story visit the MSNBC site for local news in Iowa or the KCCI site.Rollover accident on I-380 injures another person, Kaufmann
A collision on I-380 in Linn County, Iowa demonstrates negligence in the form of failing to maintain control of the driver’s vehicle. Iowa State Patrol investigated a crash that wrecked two vehicles on I-380. An Iowa City man and another from Cedar Rapids collided on the interstate.
The Iowa State Patrol reports 57-year-old Tony Hines of Cedar Rapids attempted to merge into a lane after passing 26-year-old Christopher Kaufmann of Iowa City.
The roll over caused Chris Kaufmann to rollover and led to him being injured. Des Monies has many accidents like this as does Iowa in general.
If Kaufmann can prove that Hine’s attempt to change lanes was done when it wasn’t clear then he has proven Hine was negligent. Because to change lanes when it’s not clear, unsafe, is to prove a negligent act. This accident was covered by KWWL.
Single vehicle crash may result in an Iowa Workers' Compensation claim.
Matthew Buckner was driving his Northbound on 315th St. when he lost control of the van he was driving approximately 100 yards north of the Highway 34 intersection. He entered the east ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on its side trapping Mr. Buckner inside. He was freed by mechanical extrication and was taken to Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, dying later that morning.
He was driving a 1989 GMC van. Under Iowa law, if he had dependents they maybe be entitled to workers’ compensation benefits if at the time of the collision the driver was working.
Rollover accident in Johnson County, Iowa kills one young woman and hospitalizes two others
On March 14th 2009 Lisa Marie Adams (17), Joseph Daniel Widmer (18), and Brendt Michael Fetzer were headed Westbound on 340th and lost control entering the South ditch and rolled. Lisa Marie Adams died from the resulting injuries, while Joseph was taken by Aircare to the hospital. An investigation is ongoing. No indication if Adams was wearing a seatbelt.
The time of the crash was 2:55 A.M. at 340TH ST W OF HALF MOON AVE in Johnson County. Eighteen year old Joseph Widmer was taken by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The investigation will likely focus on the toxicology analysis conducted on the decedent, Lisa Adams. First they will examine her blood alcohol content to determine if she had been drinking and was legally intoxicated. The officers have likely interviewed the other passengers to determine where they had been and were heading. Also the contents of the vehicle will be examined to determine if there are any clues that will help explain things. Are there liquor bottles or store receipts with times and contents purchased? Empty, open and full bottles can often time give clues. Drugs in the vehicle can correlate with blood analysis. Measurements of the tread depth on each tire will be made and along with road surface and weather conditions will be correlated for friction factors. The crush depth of the car, skid mark lengths and impact will be examined to determine speed of the vehicle. The speedometer will be looked at and photographed to see if it stopped on any speed.
Is the driver always liable when they lose control on dry pavement?
FAYETTE COUN TY CRASH
On April 5, 2009 Joey Sawyer, 24 (no relation to Tom) was driving a Monte Carlo south on Highway 18 around 8:30 pm. About two miles south of Postville for an unexplained reason the car he was driving goes off the road, rolls and comes to rest on it’s roof top. The passenger, Tkoel Iyechad, 24 is injured.
SUMMARY
VEHICLE WAS SOUTHBOUND ON HWY 18, LOST CONTROL, ENTERED EAST DITCH AND ROLLED OVER THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST ON ITS TOP
The question for today has to do with any negligence on the part of the driver when driving and there is no other explanation given. Of course we’ve not read the entire ISP report so we can’t really say in this instance anything about Sawyer’s driving; we use this instance only as an example. Is the driver liable for the passenger’s injuries and damages?
And the answer is that more than likely he will be. Unless the driver can come up with a plausible and believable explanation his actions imply, based on common sense, that he or she did not do something every driver is required to do while operating a motor vehicle; maintain control. And a failure to maintain control is an act of negligence making the driver liable for the resulting damages.
