Urban Miner Electrocuted

With commodity prices high copper pipe and wire are to some folks worth stealing. Apparently the price this shiny booty fetches outweighs the risk of jail or prison. But what about the risk of electrocution, does it outweigh the price of copper? An AP report indicates a man in southern Illinois was electrocuted while “stealing copper hit a live wire and was electrocuted.” Wire cutters and copper wire were found near his body. Urban mining is a new term used to describe stealing copper pipes from under inner city or suburban homes and other sources of copper wiring. An electrocution is accidental death by electric shock. According to my lawyer friend from Chicago, if you don’t die it’s just being shocked. The person has to die for it to be an electrocution.
