Royal Links, USA –Was it an advertising program or a classic Ponzi scheme?

Most golf course owners who were a part of the Royal Links, USA hospitality cart advertising program lost a lot of money. Advertising that was supposed to pay for lease payments never materialized and the program eventually collapsed leaving the owners with making monthly lease payments amounting to over $20,000. It would not have been so bad if the owners hadn't pay $12,500 for what amounts to a Dixie Cup with wheels and a canopy. It wouldn't cool if you didn't add ice and couldn't keep anything warm unless it was made warm. You could pull it behind a golf cart but it wouldn't move on its own. For $12,500 you could have purchased a fancy riding mower and pulled a $200 cart behind it with coolers filled with ice. Many of the leases required venue in Polk County, Iowa, which is why I became involved with representing golf course owners who were sued by the leasing companies.

Driving on I-35 from Texas to Minnesota - Speed limits

Speed limits in the US are set by each state or territory. The speeds chosen depend on a designation selected according to the type of road or the area surrounding the highway. In Iowa for instance we have I-80 and I-35 joining together for a 15 or 20 miles stretch as these roads wrap around Des Moines in central Iowa. Along this conjoined interstate highway the speed drops from 70 to 55 mph. Trucks are allowed to drive at the same speeds as cars when on the freeway.

Pedestrian Safety - Watching for the unexpected

From the report it’s difficult to comprehend how two pedestrians were killed walking along Texas Highway 21 near Gordon’s Auto Salvage in Bryan today. The two pedestrians were from Clarksville and Tomball, the one was 19 and the other 29 years of age. Witnesses’ are reported to have said the driver fell asleep while driving.

I-35 Texas Car Accident Involves a Cyclone and a Hawkeye Football Player

David Cato, 19 who plays defensive back for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Ter’ran Denton, (sic) 19 a defensive back from the Iowa State Cyclones were driving on I-35 south of Purcell at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday when the car they were in rolled after coming in contact with a semi-truck. According to the news report the trooper has the 18-wheeler being nudged before rolling and striking the embankment on the west side of the Interstate Highway.

Is there a difference between sex-ed and pornography in Texas?

A father who forced his children to watch hard-core porn, including group sex can’t be charged under Texas law according to the Randall County District Attorney. The children are and 8 and 9 year-old daughters whose father, divorced from the mother “made them watch adults having group sex and various other acts at his home in Amarillo. The parents of the girls, and their 7-year-old sister, are divorced and share custody.”

Texans do everything big, including making bigger mistakes than who they vote in for Governor. The law allows parents to show “harmful material” to their children. Which this lawyer-prosecutor believes sanctions parents showing porn to their children. Here in Iowa we make a distinction between educational materials and those considered pornography. In most states they look at the goal to be achieved and perhaps this father sees group sex as a way to achieve his goal of sex education. Apparently the mother, who wanted her ex jailed, wasn’t too happy.

Pornography is the depiction of sexual behavior that is intended to arouse sexual excitement in its audience. During the twentieth century, Americans debated whether pornographic material should be legally protected or banned.

So the question remains, what was his intention? So when Texas officials aren't beating up on injured people what else do they do? It appears they've found the Internet...
